The former subcommittee for LOCAC on the unhoused residents of Los Osos was voted to be a standing, permanent committee on January 28, 2021.
The Mission Statement is as follows:
The Unhoused Residents Subcommittee will collaborate with County agencies, non-profit organizations, community groups and residents in order to address homelessness in Los Osos.
The committee will seek to identify needs in order to facilitate both immediate solutions and services while also developing ideas and action steps for long term solutions, while hearing and considering community concerns.
The committee meets ever third Wednesday of the month.
Committee members are: Yael Korin – Chairperson, Sandra Sarrouf – Co-Chairperson, and Jim Stanfill from LOCAC, and 3 public members, Rev. Carolyn Hall, Linde Owen, and Lannie Erikson.

Alternative to Encampment Recommendations
On March 17, 2021 the County Homeless Services Oversight Council (HSOC) approved the “Alternative to Encampment Recommendations” document.
These recommendations were put together by the HSOC Encampment Ad Hoc working group in response to Supervisor Gibson’s request for proposed alternative programs to encampments throughout the County.
The document was reviewed and approved by both the Encampment Committee and the full HSOC before it will being presented to the Board of Supervisors.
HSOC is an advisory Council to the Board of Supervisors (BOS). The recommendations have not yet been accepted by the BOS, hence there is no current plan for implementation.
We are hopeful that the County now has options that can help to move towards the goal of solving homelessness in the County.

The LOCAC Forum Sub-Committee was voted to be a regular, standing committee at the January 28, 2021 LOCAC meeting.
